ULMS Provisionals
March 16, 2007
In the past ULMS has always offered a provisional spot for the teams that follow the ULMS events. This year will be no different except a minor change.
In previous years, the first car in the top twenty (20) points that did not qualify through the qualifying events was awarded the ULMS provisional. In 2007, the same will be in effect BUT any driver that uses the provisional will be allowed ONLY three (3) provisionals for the entire 2007 season, taking effect at Mercer Raceway on March 31!
ULMS “CHILLER THRILLER†AT MERCER IS SET TO GO ON SATURDAY
March 16, 2007
The 2007 racing season is set to kick off in high gear this weekend. One of the highlights will be the only super late model performance of the year at Mercer Raceway this Saturday night. Chris Zuver will bring his United Late Model Series (ULMS) back to Mercer for the second time for the $2000 to win “Chiller Thrillerâ€.
This event was held in 2004 and Garland, Pennsylvania driver, David “Slowride†Scott showed the other thirty-eight entries how to get around the old fairground oval located in Mercer. That win was Scott’s third ULMS win of his career and surprisingly it was his last ULMS win. He would love to get win #4 on the all-time ULMS wins list Saturday night at Mercer.
ULMS kicks off a eight race schedule this weekend at Mercer that is scheduled to commence in late September with the 2nd annual Fall Classic at McKean County Raceway. In 2004 thirty-nine entries were present at Mercer for the first running of the “Chiller Thriller†Scott won the event over Dick Barton and defending 2006 ULMS Champion, Bob Close. The past two years, mother nature have won this event, but this weekend it appears she will be on the losing end.
Past Late Model winners at Mercer since 2002 include Keith Barbara, David Scott, and Alan Dellinger with two victories, and Dick Barton and Nick Jones with one win. Bob Wearing, Sr. is the all-time Late Model winner at Mercer with five victories.
Some of the notable entries expected to be on hand include the 2006 ULMS Rookie of the Year, Doug Ricotta, David Scott, Greg Oakes, Dave Hess, Bump Hedman, Chad Valone, Darrell, Bossard, Steve Hollabaugh, Jerry Redden, Keith Barbara, Jared Miley and Rodney Phillips.
The next scheduled event on the 2007 ULMS tour after Mercer Raceway will be at the ULMS home track of McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, PA on Thursday, June 7 for the Nancy Bly / Hazen Jordan Memorial. ULMS is still in talks with two tracks for a few more possible dates.
Races start at 7PM, Saturday night at Mercer Raceway.
