ULMS RETURNS TO MCR FOR NANCY BLY MEMORIAL
After a two-month hiatus, the United Late Model Series will return to action on Thursday, June 7 at McKean County Raceway in East Smethport, PA. This will be the first of four visits by ULMS at MCR and the Nancy Bly Memorial winner will go home with a cool $2000, the event will pay $200 to start.
David Scott will be looking to pick up his second win of the year on the ULMS circuit as he is one win shy of being tied with defending ULMS Champion, Bob Close and Ron Davies with five career ULMS wins. Last year’s five events at MCR saw five different winners in the ULMS events as Todd Andrews, Bob Close, Dan Stone, Rob Blair and Chub Frank won events at MCR. Stone is the defending Nancy Bly Memorial winner as he defeated David Scott to capture his first ULMS and McKean County Raceway career wins.
The event will be the tenth ULMS sanctioned event held at MCR, as there have been seven different winners in the nine events held so far at the 1/3-mile oval. Chub Frank and Bob Close are the only repeat ULMS winners at MCR. ULMS officials and MCR expect a quality field of entries, as David Scott will be leading the ULMS racers with his early point lead. Other drivers expected are Chris Hackett, Dave Hess Jr., Rob Blair, Todd Andrews, Al Brewer, Greg Oakes, Jason Dupont, Doug Ricotta, Mike Knight, Bob McMillen, defending ULMS Champion, Bob Close and past ULMS champions, Dick Barton and Rick Isadore will be some of many drivers on hand from New York, Pennsylvania and Canada for the first ULMS event in 2007 at MCR.
ULMS will institute the fan friendly draw / redraw system as it has used throughout the years. The top 12 qualified drivers will participate in the JB Distributors/ Coors Light redraw. Mike Knight and Darren Kish will be battling it out for the Bernheisel Race Cars Inc., Rookie of the Year honors as Knight has an early lead on the Canadian driver Kish.
Race time is 7PM on Thursday, June 7 with grandstand admission being $12 and $25 for the pits. There is NO entry fee for the ULMS racers. The ULMS stars will be joined by the MCR regular card of Wimpy’s Place Super Stocks, Jerge’s Auto Parts Street Stocks, Mini Stocks, Pure Stocks and the EMODS will race in a special $650 to win event. The FASTRAK Late Models will not be on the evening’s program. Southeastern Transmission of Olean, NY presents the entire evening of racing action.
