RHEBERGEN CAPTURES UEMS WIN AT ERIEZ SPEEDWAY

ERIEZ feature winner Brent Rhebergen is congratulated by UEMS Director Chris Zuver
Brent Rhebergen of Clymer NY is known for following the ULMS Racing Series late model events, but the 25 year veteran came to Eriez Speedway in Hammett, Pennsylvania and showed everyone why he is the all time Tri City Speedway Emod feature winner in a dominating performance in the Terry Suppa owned black #4s.
The Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series presented Bob Rohrer with forty-four entries competing for the thousand dollars that was on the line. Twenty-six cars would make the starting field for the 25 lap main event. Dirt late model veteran, Al Brewer, who was coming off two straight wins at Arcade International Raceway and eastern New York IMCA star, George Catanzano were the front row starters for Spanky Hall’s green flag. At the start, it was Brewer shooting to the lead but before the cars could get thru turn four, third place starter, Justin Tatlow would spin and get collected by Justin Carlson, resulting in Tatlow bringing out the yellow.
On the complete restart, Brewer again got a great start with his Jerge’s Buyers of Scrap Metal #71 machine and would beat the field into turn number one. As the field rolled into turn number three, the fourth place car of Jack Young would spin and collecting a host of cars including, track point leader, Rich Michael, Darryl Charlier, Russ Dunn, Tim Engles, Shawn Shingledecker, TJ Downs and Greg Johnson. Johnson would leave on the hook relinquishing third place in the UEMS points.
Well with another complete restart, the front row now consisted of Brewer and Carlson. Randy Hall was originally scheduled to start sixth was now third, with tenth place starting, Brent Rhebergen now schedule to start fourth. Brewer again shot to the lead, looking like he may have the car to beat at the start. Hall quickly moved into second behind Brewer, but on lap two, Rhebergen would grab second from Hall on the inside and charge after Brewer. The top two would be door handle to door handle down the backstretch and it would be Rhebergen leading lap 3 over Brewer, Hall, Carlson and Scott Gurdak. Hall and Brewer would swap second back and fourth during the lap with Hall prevailing for the position on lap four. Darren Tarabori would bring out the third yellow on lap five as Rhebergen had already stretched his lead. On the restart, Rhebergen would get his car out of shape in turn one with Hall checking up and The BrewMaster, Al Brewer shooting back to the lead. The two late model veterans of Brewer who is in his 38th year racing and Rhebergen celebrating his silver anniversary were a dead heat at the line to complete lap seven. Debris brought the yellow out again on lap 8 and the top five now had, Rhebergen, Brewer, Dave Hess who started 8th after the lap one cautions, followed by UEMS point leader Hall and Carlson.
This restart, Rhebergen was letting Brewer sneak back by and charged out of turn two with the lead, but Hess would battle Brewer for second as the same two drivers did two nights earlier in ULMS late model action. Carlson would grab third from Brewer on lap ten as Hall and Brewer went back at it for fourth. At the half way point, it was Rhebergen stretching out his lead over Hess, Carlson, Hall, Brewer and Gurdak. With ten to go, Gurdak would eek Brewer out for fifth at the line and the next lap the last yellow would come out for Midway, PA driver, Daryl Charlier. Rhebergen refired at the green as Hess and Carlson went at it for second behind the black #4s of Rhebergen. Hall, Gurdack, Brewer, Young and Shawn Shingledecker were still in a fight for fourth. With two to go, Shingledecker and Brewer would battle for sixth with Shingledecker edging the fading Brewer. As Spanky Hall threw out the double checkers for Rhebergen who cruised to the thousand dollar victory over Hess, Carlson, Gurdack, who won the super late model feature earlier in the night was fourth, followed by UEMS point leader, Randy Hall, Shingledecker, Brewer, Young, John Boyd and Russ Dunn rounded out the top ten.
