The Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series ventured to the Monster half mile oval, otherwise known as Pittsburgh Pennsylvania Motor Speedway. Forty-three Emod racers from Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania and West Virigina were on hand for Modified Madness. When the dust settled, it was Grafton, West Virginia’s, Andre Layfield sitting in victory lane.

The twenty lap $800 to win event for the Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series, saw Shawn Domhoff and Andre Layfield pace the twenty-four car field to the green. As the field rolled into turn one, third place starter and PPMS regular, JE Stalder spun in middle of turn one and two resulting in a sixteen of the twenty four starters to be involved. KWS UEMS point leader, Randy Hall was involved and went pitside with damage along with UEMS regular, Shawn Shingledecker, Tom Martineck and Jacob Hawkins. The restart saw the field shrunk to twenty starters and as the field rolled thru the first two turns and down the backstretch, the car of Stalder went airborne and barrell rolled down the backstretch nearly rolling out over the backstretch fence. The cars of Bob Damron, Kari Gasser, Kevin Miller and Jim Plance were all involved. During the red flag, Hall would return to the field and on the lead lap as no laps were yet completed.

Again, Shawn Domhoff and Layfield fired the field that was now shrunk down to nineteen cars. The third time was a charm as Layfield immediately left the field using the extreme cushion against the monsters wall. The battle was for second between Clymer, New York’s, Brent Rhebergen, PPMS point leader,Daryl Charlier and Joe Gabrielson. By lap five, Layfield had opened up a straightaway lead over Rhebergen and company. Domhoff was in fifth followed by Chuck Kennedy, Russ Dunn and Hall had charged back to eighth from starting in the rear after making repairs. Lap seven saw Kennedy and Domhoff battle for the fifth position and one lap later it was Kennedy claiming the spot. As the halfway point was shown, Layfield’s lead had shrunk as Rhebergen closed in on the leader. Charlier, was keeping the #4s of Rhebergen within reach. The next few laps saw Rhebergen and Charlier battle for the runner up spot as they both closed in on the leader as he entered lap traffic. The battle between Rhebergen and Charlier ended on lap sixteen as Charlier blew a right rear tire ending his bid for a second or possibile win on his home track. The field refired and Rhebergen drove low to make a slide job on Layfield in turn one and two but the yellow would come back out for Kevin Miller. Again the field refired and Rhebergen gave Layfield a bump at the flagstand and again the #11 of Layfield went rim riding and Rhebergen charged to the inside for another failed slide job. Hall would get by Domhoff for fifth on lap 17 as he was looking for another quick yellow to join the top two runners battle. That yellow would never come as Layfield outdistanced Rhebergen to the finish with Gabrielson third over Chuck Kennedy and Hall fifth. Dunn was sixth in his debut of a brand new Larry Shaw mount, Domhoff faded to seventh with Clatyon Kennedy in eight, while Tim Engles and Greg Johnson rounding out the top ten.

Heat winners for the 44 Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series, Monster Madness event were: Charlier, Stalder, Layfield and Rhebergen. Jim Plance survived to capture the consolation event.
