The very first co-sanctioned event between the Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series and the Tri State Modified Association took place last night at Tyler County Speedway in Middlebourne, West Virginia. A total of fourty-nine cars entered the $3000 to win event drew racers from New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. When the dust settled at the “Bullring”, it was Parkersburg, West Virginia’s, Kenny Riddle holding off the charges of UEMS point leader, Randy Hall.

Riddle and Larry Holbrook sat on the front row due as the heat winners redrew for the top six starting positions. Riddle jumped out in front immediately. Fourth place starter, Dave Defibaugh quickly grabbed second and it was rim riding Randy Hall getting the fans on their feet immediately as he swept into third as the field rounded turn two. The first yellow came out on lap two as TSMA second place point car, Jess Hartman came to a stop. On the restart again it was Riddle out gunning Defibaugh. Lap five would see Hall take the extreme low line of the Bullring and get under Defibaugh as Rick Aukland and Shawn Davis rounded out the top five. Hall would pull a slide job on Defibaugh in turn four to grab second as the 2009 Winter Alltel Allstar champion and UEMS point leader had his sights set on Riddle. With ten laps in the books, Hall closed in on Riddle as both drivers used the top and bottom grooves of the ultra fast 1/4 mile oval. The top ten were: Riddle, Hall, Defibaugh, Aukland, Tom Sigler,Shawn Davis, Phillip Jeffries, Kenny Merchant, Jacob Hawkins and Tony Barber.

Hall would pull beside Riddle the next few laps but could not complete the pass as the fans were rocking in the stands as two of the premier Emod racers in the east went door to door. Hall appeared to be ready to make the pass on Riddle when Jeffries spun on the backstretch to bring the yellow out on lap fourteen. Riddle and Hall went back at it again after the restart as Sigler would get by Aukland for fourth. The very next lap a huge crash happened in turn one that collected several cars. Per TSMA and Tyler County Speedway rules, the car causing the yellow was charged with the yellow and this victim was fourth place runner, Sigler. The new running order was Riddle still in front of Hall, Defibaugh, Aukland and Davis rounded out the top five. On the start, the sixth place running, Kevin Moorehouse would jump the start and grab fifth. He would be scored seventh (docked two positions). As the race reached the halfway point, Riddle and Hall again was going at it for the lead as they left Defibaugh and company behind. The rest of the top ten was Aukland, Davis, Jacob Hawkins, Moorehouse, Robert Stanibagh, Brian Probst and Jesse Wisecarver.

While the two leaders had their own battle for the lead, Defibaugh and Aukland went at it for third. With five to go, Moorehouse would pop the turn two wall to bring out the yellow. Riddle and Hall again hit the loud pedal on the restart as Hall went low and tried for a slide job on the leader, but again Riddle used the cushion and momentum to pull Hall and his #10 BMS machine off the corner With three to go, Holbrook an Probst came together to bring out the final yellow. During the yellow, fourth place running, Aukland came to a stop with a undisclosed problem ending his night. Hall was cooling his tires knowing he had three laps and approixmately 45 seconds to make a winning pass on Riddle. The green dropped and as all night long, the two drivers pulled away. Hall tried high and low to get around Riddle but it was the #K1 of Parkersburg, West Virginia’s, Kenny Riddle collecting the $3000 Battle of the Bullring event over Olean, New York’s Randy Hall. Defibaugh, Hawkins was fourth from seventeenth and Shawn Davis was fifth at the finish.

Hall set fast time during the evenings time trials with a lap of 14.22 seconds. TSMA point leader, Mark Dickson who is also Tyler County Speedway’s point leader was second fast with a lap time of 14.43 seconds. Heat winners were: DJ Cline (did not race feature due to blown motor after heat), Aukland, Tom Sigler, Defibaugh, Riddle and Larry Holbrook. Bmain winners were: Jesse Wisecarver, Jess Hartman and Kenny Johnson.

The Kinzua Water Service UEMS Emods will be idle until July 11 when the series returns to McKean County Raceway (PA) and on the very next night they will be at Eriez Speedway for a $1000 to win event on July 12. The KWS and the TSMA modifieds will do two more co-sanctioned events this year. The next co-sanctioned event will be at Raceway 7 in Conneaut, Ohio on September 11 and on October 3 the two series will be together at Mercer Raceway Park for a $2000 to win event.
