(Woodhull NY) The Northern Tier Inc ULMS Late Models will make their annual August trip to Woodhull Raceway in south central New York on Saturday, August 1st with a rain date the following day if needed. The 18th annual Late Model Reunion will pay $2000 to the winner and $200 to start the thirty lap event.
There will not be a repeat winner this year as last year’s winner; Todd Andrews has retired from action, while “The Razor” Bob Close will lead the Northern Tier Inc. United Late Model Series contingent. Close has been Mr. Consistent this year with only one finish below fourth in ULMS action. Brent Rhebergen of Clymer, NY nearly stole the Reunion last year with a late race charge currently sits in second place in the ULMS points. Dave Hess Jr. sits third followed by Jason Dupont who has had a pair of top five finishes the past two Woodhull events. Boom Briggs the current AllStar Late Model Series point leader sits fifth in points and has indicated he will head to the Woodhull high banks.
This years Late Model Reunion at the Woodhull Raceway will feature a new twist as it will be part of a three race mini series with the first leg being staged at the Clinton County Speedway on Friday, July 31. The second porting is at Woodhull on August 1 with the finale at Clinton County on Wednesday, August 12. Only the Woodhull Raceway Late Model Reunion event is sanctioned by the Northern Tier Inc. ULMS Late Model Series.
The central New York 358 small block modified fans will be treated with not only the top ULMS cars but Clinton County Speedway late model stars, such as Waylon Wagner, Todd Baumgardner, Billy Eash along with track point leader Luke Hoffner, Nick Loffredo, Jeremy Ohl and Bobby Stokes of Milton, Pennsylvania. Also expected to be on hand from eastern Pennsylvania area will be Chad Hollenbeck, Bud Phillips, Dave Zona, Jeremy Randall, Jon Rohacevich along with past ULMS Woodhull Reunion winners, Al Brewer, Jeff Hoffman and Ed Carley. Other ULMS drivers expected to be on hand are, Doug Ricotta, Greg Oakes, Dave Norton Sr. and Quebec, Canadian driver, Peter Mantha. ULMS entrants are reminded that the standard $20 entry fee will be required for this event and ULMS rules will be used.
So far only Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, Pennsylvania has multiple victories in the ULMS series. Rob Blair, Close, Dupont, Briggs and David Scott all have solo wins this year. Will Close, Dupont or Briggs become the next multiple winner or will there be another winner in victory lane.
Past winners of the Woodhull Late Model Reunion are: Ron Davies, Al Brewer, Bob Baldwin, Bob Close, Ed Carley, Tim Hoffman, Jeff Hoffman, Dick Barton, Todd Andrews and Mike Wonderling. Davies, Brewer, Carley, Close, Jeff Hoffman and Barton are still actively running super late models.
Mullen Carpets of Almond along with S&W Awards and Photos of Corning will be on board to co-sponsor the event and in addition to a huge field of Late Models it will also be a Big 6 Show for all of Woodhull’s regular classes of competition. Gates for the August 1 show open at 4:30 with racing at 6:30 pm.
The Northern Tier Inc ULMS Late Models will return to action the following Thursday (August 6th) at McKean County Raceway with 5th annual Stephanie Eckl Memorial being held. Then the ULMS series head to H&H Motorsports Tri City Speedway for the World of Outlaw Qualifier that will pay $3000 to win on Sunday, August 9. For more information on the Northern Tier Inc.
