ULMS JOINS UFO AND UMP DirtCAR AT PPMS FOR F2 SHOCKWAVE

The Northern Tier Inc. ULMS Late Model Series will venture south into Greater Pittsburgh Metropolitan area when the ULMS series teams up with the Unified Force Race Championship Series (UFO) and the UMP DirtCAR series for a triple sanctioned event featuring Twin 31 lap events paying $2500 each to win. The F2 Shockwave will pit the top 2 regional super dirt late model series in the northeast against each other along with eligible drivers being awarded UMP DirtCAR points.

“The Razor” Bob Close of Eldred, Pennsylvania will lead the Northern Tier Inc. ULMS Late Model Series as Alex Ferree of Saxonburg will lead the UFO contingent to their home track, Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway. This will mark the first ever visit by the Northern Tier Inc. ULMS Late Model Series to the Monster Half Mile oval in Imperial, Pennsylvania. Bart Hartman and John Flinner have won the previous two UFO events this year at PPMS.

Close will be joined by Clymer, New York’s, Brent Rhebergen who was at PPMS in June for the season opening UFO event, only to see his night end with a hard crash while running in the fourth position. He will no doubt be looking for some consolation from his previous visit. The “Cyclone Rocket” of Jason Dupont who has had a roller coaster of a year will be on hand in the Northern Tier Inc. #No7 Rocket. Other entries expected are the Lebarron Racing team of Alan Sagi of Hagerstown, MD and Scott Lebarron of Dover, PA along with two time ULMS winner, “The Renegade” Gregg Satterlee of Rochester Mills, PA.

The UFO series will again be led by Alex Ferree along with Keith Barbara of South Park, PA, Toronto, Ohio driver, John Mollick, who is coming off his first UFO win at Roaring Knob who has frequent a few ULMS events this year. Jared Miley has a couple wins this year at PPMS, sits fourth in the UFO points and also has a pair of third place finishes in the ULMS series and is third in the AllStar Late Model Series points will no doubt be looking to grab his first UFO and ULMS win of the year. John Flinner won the season opening UFO event at PPMS during the PennNational in June. Flinner is coming off a win this past weekend at PPMS, he will no doubt be one of the cars to beat.

Will one of the PPMS faithfull turn back the UFO and ULMS stars? Kyle Burgoon is the current PPMS point leader, he no doubt will be looking for the hometrack edge along with PPMS legends, Ben Miley and Lynn Geisler. 2008 Pittsburgher 100, Steve Baker will be looking to get his hot streak going that he enjoyed last season and Tommy Beck who won the season opening event at PPMS will no doubt love to find victory lane again. Who will win? Come on out, Saturday, August 15 to the MONSTER HALF MILE at Pittsburgh PA Motor Speedway and find out!

Gates will open at 5:00 with warm-ups at 6:00 and racing at 7:00 PM. Adult grandstand admission is $20, seniors $19, junior 13-16 $15, children 7-12 $5 and pits $32.

Payout for the UFo Super Late Models for the twin 31-lap “F-2 Shockwave” is (each feature will pay half the listed payoff) 1st – $5,300 2nd -$2,000 3rd -$1,400 4th -$1,200 5th -$1,000 6th -$800 7th -$700 8th -$650 9th -$600 10th -$550 11th – $520 12th -$500 13th -$480 14th -$450 15th -$430 16th -$400 17th -$380 18th -$380 19th -$380 20th -$380 21st -$350 22nd -$350 23rd -$350 24th -$350. $100 tow money for any car that races and does not qualify for the feature. ULMS will be awarding full ULMS points for heats and both feature events.

This event will have no Super Late Model car entry fee. RACEceiver 1 way radios are required at PPMS.
Spec motor cars will use “Option 1″ rules with a 2,200 pound weight limit, 12″ rear spoiler and 4″ nose spillboard at all events except PPMS. At PPMS, “Option 2″ rules will be in effect with 2,250 pound weight limit, 12″ rear spoiler and no spillboard. Open motor cars will weigh 2,250 pounds with a 8″ spoiler. This will be a open tire event with any compound or brand allowed.
