ULMS RACING SERIES HEADS TO STATELINE and ERIEZ THIS WEEKEND
April 26, 2010
Well, Mother Nature was not kind this weekend for the Northern Tier Inc. ULMS Late Models. With two laps being recorded in the Jim Duffy Memorial at McKean County Raceway a steady rain ended the season opener for the Northern Tier Inc. ULMS opener. The ULMS Racing Series will head to Stateline Speedway for a series double header on Saturday, May 1st and end the weekend at Eriez Speedway for a Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series event.
First on Saturday, the ULMS Racing Series will make their first visit to Francis Seaman’s, Stateline Speedway in Busti, NY since 2003! Both ULMS series will be in action, the Northern Tier Inc ULMS Late Models will be in action with the Emory Mahan Memorial paying $3000 to win and $400 to start event presented by Roberts Trucking. This event will feature an AMERICAN RACER only tire rule per agreement with Stateline Speedway. The Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series will also be in action with their second event of the 2010 schedule. The KWS UEMS series will run for $2000 and $200 to start in the Charlie Robinson Memorial. The Emods will be open tire (Hoosier, American Racer or Goodyear).
On Sunday, May 2, the Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series will head to Bob Rohrer’s, Eriez Speedway in Hammett, Pennsylvania for a $1000 to win Emod event. A solid field of cars is expected at both venues. David Scott won the only ULMS late model show held at Stateline in 2003 with a last lap pass to win race number five of the ULMS Tri State Series. Brent Rhebergen and Randy Hall won the two UEMS events at Eriez Speedway last summer with solid Emod car counts of forty-four and thirty-two Kinzua Water Service UEMS Emods.
With Mother Nature being a pain so far for Stateline and Eriez as both tracks have lost their season openers and Stateline lost this past weekend’s event along with the ULMS losing their late model opener. Hopefully it will be clear sunny weather this upcoming weekend and fans should be treated to some great action at both tracks.
Northern Tier Inc. ULMS will be represented at Stateline with defending three-time ULMS champion, Bob Close along with Greg Oakes, Jason Dupont, Brent Rhebergen, Dennis Lunger, Dave Hess Jr., Jeff Hoffman, Dutch Davies, Wally Fox, Paul Grigsby and the return of David “Slowride” Scott. Stateline Speedway will be represented by 2009 champion, Chad Valone, Chris Hackett, Darrell Bossard, former two time ULMS champion, Dick Barton, Doug Eck, John Volpe, Scott Gurdak, George LaBarbera and all the rest of Stateline’s top cars will be looking to stop the ULMS outsiders in the $3000 Roberts Trucking, Emory Mahan Memorial. A little bonus is being added for the overall point leader in the five ULMS schedule events at Stateline Speedway will get an additional $1000. ULMS Late Models will be back at Stateline on July 10th, August 7th and September 10th and 11th.
The Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series will make their first ever appearance to Stateline Speedway. Two-time defending series champion, Randy Hall will no doubt be one of the top contenders in this event. The KWS UEMS contingent will be led by season opening winner, Joel Watson of Conneaut, OH along with Brent Rhebergen, Dave Hess Jr., Carl McKinney, Mike Knight, Rich Gardner, Mike Eschrich, Vic Vena, Tim Peterson, Dave Atkinson, Kari Gasser, Kyle Bedell and others. The UEMS stars will have their work cut out for them in the big money event paying $2000 to win and $200 to start as the Stateline Speedway Emod faithful led by 2009 track champion, Justin Carlson, Rich Michael, Scott Gurdak, Dave Shagla, Tom Hagberg, Dave Lyon and rest of the Stateline faithful will no doubt make it hard for the UEMS travelers. There will also be a $1000 bonus for the overall point leader in the four UEMS events held at Stateline. UEMS will return to Stateline on July 31 for the $5000 Emod Invasion and then on September 10th for a $1000 to win show and $2000 to win on September 11th.
Sunday, the Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series head to Eriez Speedway in Hammett, PA for the third event of the 2010 schedule. Last year, Brent Rhebergen won the first ever UEMS event at Eriez as he topped a forty-four car field. Rhebergen will be heading into the weekend as the point leader. Eriez will be led by their 2009 champion, John Boyd along with local racers, Dave Hess Jr. and the Clinger house cars of Rich Gardner and Mike Knight (who follow UEMS as well). Joe Weber, Jack Young, Butch Southwell, Dan Davies will all be looking for the $1000 prize.
It should be an excellent weekend with $3000 up for grabs for the Northern Tier Inc ULMS Late Models at Stateline and a $3000 weekend for the Kinzua Water Service United Emod Series events at Stateline and Eriez.
